Another Encounter With Towing Company

Wesley Willis had that song about how STP conked out his engine and then he had to hire a tow truck service to pick up his car, which I assume was a Ford Windstar but I could be wrong. In the song he complained about how he had to wait for an hour before the towing truck driver showed up and hauled his car away in the wrecker. By the way, STP was referring to the type of oil he used and not Stone Temple Pilots which is one of my favorite bands from the 90s.

I’ve had a couple times where I had to look for a nearby towing service and get the wrecker out to haul away my car using the tow truck. I’ve been pretty lucky though, I’ve been driving for over 15 years and I think only two or three times I’ve had to rely on towing service to come pick up my car. Last time I blogged about it here.

The first time, I was doing the turnaround on Gratiot and my youngest’s mom was sitting in the passenger side just yacking away and complaining about I don’t know what. So I was a little distracted when I made the turn and this woman in a minivan changed lanes to the near lane at the same time I pulled out and I clipped her. Bam- Call the tow truck. My car was actually still drivable but since the collision had ripped off my entire front bumper as well as the lights the police wouldn’t let me take it anywhere. So the tow truck driver showed up and I had to pay to have it towed about 15 miles away because there was only one collision shop in the area that my insurance would pay for without a hassle. The tow truck driver was pretty nice though. Luckily the accident was literally right in front of my apartment so I didn’t need the towing guy to give my little family and I a ride home.

Then there was this other time I filled up at the gas station, get back in my car and only got that click click click when I turned the key. Back then I didn’t know so much about cars or I never would have called a tow service and had the tow truck come out because it was only the battery that time. I could have just pushed the thing into a parking space and slapped a new battery in the next day instead of paying a towing fee to have the tow service haul my car to a shop. So actually I paid for towing service, the diagnostic and labor at the shop and probably an inflated price for my new battery. The tow truck guy was even like, “Oh yeah, that’s your battery,” and I was about to tell him thanks for the tip and leave the car right there while I go down and grab a new battery. But it was one in the morning and I was just glad to not have my car impounded at the time and get a ride home from the tow truck driver. You live and you learn, right?

Goal Setting & Staying Dedicated to the craft

What is goal setting and how do you do it properly, its about setting focus and intention. For me its a meditative process where we block out the world and I begin to focus on my purpose and my why, so just to keep myself accountable I will sometimes write out my purpose public like on a blog, to keep things fresh and interesting.

For example,one of my purpose is to represent unlimited possibilities and become inspiration for young kids. One of my purpose is to become wealthy and clear the money karma in the family. And to once and for a all clear the misconception that money is difficult to earn. I want to take care of my family and make them successful. I want to chase after my dreams until the day I die, and live a model life that everyone wants to copy. I don’t ever want to stop challenging myself and growing. I’m in it for the long haul and I won’t stop until I reach newer levels of productivity and commitment.

I want to write my goals and inspirations down everyday like

I am smart because I read everyday

which is one of my goal is to continually spark my mind everyday with something inspirational and life changing. To consume different audio books and get smarter everyday. I am always interested in peak performance as a business owner and as a person. Whatever it takes for me to get to the next level and I won’t stop until I reach it. I am always looking after the greats in any area and field because I wan to model after their success.

I take action and I am willing to do what other people won’t do, so I can get the things they don’t have tomorrow.

I push boundaries and find new levels of productivity and creativity, that people didn’t have before.

So this is kind of like the type of writing that will get me up and excited every morning, writing my goals down and writing my purpose down. And going to work everyday becomes that much more fun. Because you are no longer working on other people’s terms but you’re working on your own, and you are not working for money only, you are now driven by a higher purpose and vision where you will work and do things before it was unimaginable.

This is the type of producer that I am committed to becoming, someone that is capable of greatness. Someone that can take set backs and treat them like little road blocks that you can leap over. I am committed to becoming that person, and I am committed to my craft, no matter how long it takes me I will put in the dedication required to reach it.

As we have learned in towing and limo owners that the key to success is hard work and dedication, at the end of the day its the straight shooters that become successful those that are right down the middle every time. People that are consistent, and continue to produce content over and over again. Those are the people that make it to the top and builds an empire because regardless of what the outside world is telling them, they just keep doing their thing and keep producing.

In this world you are either a producer or consumer, the one gets richer and the other gets poorer, which side of the fence do you want to be on?

For me, I choose to be a producer and this blog is simply about freedom of expression to get the creative juices flowing again. I look at each article I write as another ammunition that will propel me into the future of my dreams. The big vision with fancy cars, big house and beautiful women. Living a life of freedom and way beyond past struggle.

But continuing the hustle and grind everyday so the distance from my position to my previous peers grow further, and I make new connections and new friends all across the world. And then I will know without the shadow of a doubt that I have changed and there’s no going back. I set an intention out to become a cool, rich guy and I am that person in a few years and no one can deny it.

That’s the type of person Alan Parson will become.

As professionals we do whatever it takes to get to the next level. At Alan Parsons we are ready to take on big projects in the last article I talked about Grant Cardone how in order to get anything in life you have to sell like your life depends on it. Well I was talking to several of my people the other day about what makes  a great service great and what makes a great company stand out from the rest.

We came to the conclusion it wasn’t the price at all, but it was the expertise that these companies showed and how much they appeared to be the authority at what they do that made all the difference in the world.

Take for example one of my guys came into work the other day and was late, because his car got into an accident. Someone had rear ended him and his car was totaled. Something you do not want to be dealing with on a Friday morning. He was in frantic mindset when he called the towing company. This company treated him with respect and courtesy as he needed to get the car towed 10 to 15 miles and it would cost him decent amount of money from all the different places he has tried. Well it turns out that one company that was able to service him was called Troy Towing and they had great reputation on the internet so he called them and they came in a hurry.

He didn’t want to deal with the trouble of finding someone that he had to hold hands and tell theme exactly, he was already late for work and so he wanted a towing company to just tow his wrecked vehicle to the impound lot that was 20 miles away and that’s that, that’s really all he wanted to do. So the smart towing company saw what kind of predicament he was in and said the only words that mattered and that was “don’t worry we’ll take care of it” those simple words was all that my co-worker needed to hear.

You see sometimes you just have to pay attention and listen, people will tell you what they need help with and its just as simple as giving them what they are asking for. Is there any more simple way to do business than that? The guy needed some help and the towing company served! What more do we ever want from a towing company? We do not need to hear about your rough week or any of that crap, we just want you to take care of the car hands free and we don’t have to worry about it anymore as that’s the last thing that we want to be worried about in the times of crisis.

And we hear all these horror stories of other towing companies that take these customers in for a loop when they have all these qualifications that they put these customers through, look as a business owner we only care about one thing and one thing only, are you going to deliver on your promises? and if so how quickly can you do it?

Especially in a need type business like towing, all we really care about is for the company to do the job reliable and quickly and making the payment as easy as possible and it looks like that’s what my friend found in this one towing company in Troy and that’s what we decided a lot of times many local businesses neglect the basics.

We want a service that works, that’s dependable and that we can count on in times of crisis we want that business owners to understand the situations and act accordingly with speed and precision.

So Thanks to my friend, I think we identified another core reasons to pick up as core principle that makes a business great. That is to identify your client’s situation and serve them accordingly!

It is a simple concept but we often overlook this point!

Are you doing the selling or are you getting sold to?

I want to dive into the topic of selling today recently I started reading the book sell or be sold by Grant Cardone and in audio form which is teaching me a lot about what actually selling is.

Selling is the ability to convince someone to buy into your mission and your vision. Its the ability to influence and get other people to buy into your vision. There is nothing wrong with selling. There is social stigma around selling that gives this word such a bad negative feeling to it but selling is vital to every part of your life. Everyone is a sales man, we just have to accept it wield that power, you do not have to make your livlihood in sales to be considered a sales men. You are always pitching something to get your way in life.

Whether that’s dating the girl you wanted or convincing your mother to take you to the friends house, we have always used our power to persuade and get our way.

The other day I had a tree that fell down into the drive way and I needed a tree removal badly, I called few companies up in Lansing but all of them were booked for the next 3 days, well this wasn’t going to cut it, so I persistently called up several tree removal companies over and over again insisting that they come out to the property to remove the tree as an emergency service, some of them would not return my calls while this one company did finally answer my call and was willing to listen to my situation and I was able to persuade him to coming over to the home at the end of the day when his schedule was cleared and his last client for the day was served. He had to work overtime from his normal shift but the point is he did the job and I had the tree removed that desperately needed someone to take care of before the morning.

As I was writing the check for the service, it suddenly dawned on me that this was exactly what Grant Cardone was talking about when he said everyone is a sales person. Yes I was the guy paying him for the service, but I was the one that convinced him to come to m property at the very end of the day because i don’t have the luxury of waiting till tomorrow morning to make this happen.

I was definitely doing the selling because I convinced him to take time out of his busy schedule and get the tree removed.

and later in the evening I saw the sales power in my little children as they persuaded me to play with them after dinner and give them some yogurt treats after dinner.

How do you develop this skill?

Every skill needs repetition and hours to get better at, especially sales 10,000 hours of mastery is where we should all be head for sales and its what I recommend for any start up and young entrepreneur that wants to quickly rise to the top, sales is essential in my humble opinion.

Grant Cardone Drops the Hammer

It is always refreshing to hear someone that knows what they are talking about.

Sales is the most fundamental skill that is required for the entrepreneur

Sales is what drives in new revenue and without new revenue the company stagnates

And when company stagnates it dies.

Sales training is important for anyone becoming a business owner because without sales, the business cannot survive. This is why it is imperative that one works on their sales skills and closes deals. Whether its to influence someone to do business with you or persuade someone to invest in your dream & vision, sales training is very crucial to making it big in the world.

The problem is there is distaste for sales people, people that lack the ambition to make those calls because the telephone brings in dollars. The telephone is the great equalizer. With the telephone you can go into a market and carve out a big piece of the pie, with the telephone you grow into a large operation that takes care of business.

With telephone, you develop a skill that many people lack that’s learning how to sell, convincing others to buy into your goals and your vision. In sales the most important factor is to  get the sale to take place.

As a entrepreneur we should be learning everything there is to know about the telephone, every detail of it and make sure that we are excelling in this skill and honing your craft and growing your confidence.

It is my priority to grow my confidence, it is my priority to become the best I can be, it is my priority to hone my skills and become the best person and grow so much confidence behind the phone that you become a giant magnet for success.

Now the third element seems kind of too simple to be true perhaps but begin practicing waking up 5 AM everyday and watch how you begin to gain clarity over your life, get more done, go after your dreams, and disassociate more and more from your pain body.
